Welcome to My Multiverse
In the beginning of 2026 I became fully self-employed.
It was not exactly the plan… but in a very “perimenopause move” I quit my corporate job in December and the most obvious next step was to start my own thing.
For years, I’d been circling making this work my full time gig. Healing. Energy work. Qigong. Art. Animals. Writing. Creativity. It’s all been there all along, it’s just that it’s been at the periphery, rather than front and centre like it now is.
These were my passions that were little side hustles. I studied obsessively and I’d offer them. on the side because I loved them and sharing them lit me up.
And then suddenly they weren't the side hustle anymore.
They were the real deal.
Which presented me with a really baffling question…
What exactly is my business?
You see, I didn't just want to do one thing.
I wanted to work with people tune in and tune up energetically. I wanted to teach Qigong. I wanted to make art. I wanted to write. I was becoming increasingly fascinated by working energetically with animals, BIG HEARTS to Dusty and Theo.
For a while, I thought this was a problem.
I wondered if I needed a separate website for my art? A separate Instagram page?
Did The Pet Project need to become its own business?
Was my healing work the real business, while everything else was some kind of colourful extracurricular activity?
It took me a months to realise this…
I’m not trying to build several businesses.
I’m envisioning and creating an ecosystem where they all organically fit.
Fredereka has been evolving with me for years
If you've been in my world for a while, you'll know Fredereka.com didn't start out like this.
In the beginning, circa 2016, this website was a relatively straightforward place to share my work as a massage therapist.
That was simple.
It was just massage. I had a link where clients would book appointments. Easy.
At one point my Etsy shop was connected to it too. At the time that’s where I sold my I artwork.
But I kept learning things, lol!
I became a meditation teacher.
I trained in breathwork.
I became a yoga teacher, and then I trained in Yin.
As a massage therapist I was specialising more in fascial work and abdominal and pelvic massage.
And in the background, I was making art.
And every time I encountered something that changed my world, I wanted to share it with other people.
And although the practices looked different, I could feel a sort of connective tissue between them.
Everything I was drawn towards had some kind of therapeutic quality.
Everything was helping me discover more of myself.
Everything was connecting me more with my body, my creativity, my intuition, my vitality.
And I knew these practices had the potential to do something meaningful for other people's lives too.
The problem was that my list of job titles was becoming… kinda ridiculous.
I had to stop organising my work around what I did
Eventually I realised I needed to get less interested in organising my work around the vehicle for change…
Massage therapist.
Meditation teacher.
Breathwork teacher.
Yoga teacher.
Psychotherapist.
Qigong practitioner.
Energy worker.
Artist.
and more around the transformation available to my clients through working with me…
THAT is actually much easier to answer.
I want my clients to feel LIT UP BY LIFE.
I want you to feel at home in your skin.
I want you to trust yourself to make rockstar moves.
I want you to have the kind of access to your own energy that means get to materialise the things you're here to do.
The vehicle might be Qigong.
It might be energy medicine.
It might be movement.
It might be art.
It might be a conversation.
It might involve an animal.
The vehicle changes. The transformation remains the same.
Energetics are the baseline
Energy unites everything. This is why, to me, there isn't much separation between art, healing and animals.
I'm fascinated by the energetics of things.
When I'm practising Qigong, I'm interested in the movement of energy through the body and our into the world around…
When I'm working with someone energetically, I'm interested in what's happening underneath the surface of their experience, what images, sensations, actions the work makes it possible for them to make.
When I'm making art, I'm interested in what happens when I get my thinking mind out of the way and allow something to come through my hands.
And when I'm working with animals, I'm fascinated by everything that is communicated and exchanged without words.
Different doors.
Same fascination.
What happens when we become sensitive enough to notice what's moving underneath the obvious?
I've actually been doing this my whole life
Maybe that's why trying to separate everything started to feel increasingly difficult.
These aren't interests I acquired because I identified a lucrative niche on the internet.
They've been part of my heart and soul since I was old enough to hold a pencil or pat a cat or a dog.
I've always made things.
I've always loved animals.
I've always been fascinated by the invisible aspects of being human – emotion, intuition, imagination, spirituality, healing, the mysterious things we can feel but can't necessarily say, see… see it!
The professional expression of those things has changed enormously over the years.
But the thread has remained the same.
Becoming self-employed has finally allowed all of these parts of me to sit together at the same table.
But what’s the niche? LOL
One of the interesting things about starting a business online is that you very quickly encounter the idea that everything needs to fit a niche.
Pick your niche.
Pick your person.
Pick your problem.
Become known for one thing.
And I understand why that advice exists.
But every time I tried to imagine chopping pieces off my work to make myself easier to categorise, something in me gets really frustrated.
I don’t want five separate websites.
I don’t want to pretend that the woman teaching Qigong is unrelated to the woman making channelled art, or the woman doing energy healing with somebody's cat.
It’s all me.
More importantly, they're all pointing in the same direction… Vitality!
So instead of trying to separate them, I decided to build them a home.
Fredereka.com became the multiverse
This is what I'm beginning to understand Fredereka.com to be.
Not one modality.
Not one offer.
Not even really one business in the conventional sense.
It's the creative world of Freddy Johnston.
Art. Healing. Animals. Articles. Experiments. Experiences. Whatever comes next.
There are different rooms. There will probably be rooms I haven't even thought of yet.
But they belong in the same house because the energetic baseline connects them all.
And once I saw that, everything became much simpler.
I needed to let the ecosystem guide me.
Just because I hadn't seen it didn't mean it wasn’t “becoming”…
I think this has been one of the biggest lessons of becoming self-employed.
Sometimes we look outside ourselves for how we should do the thing before we're willing to take a step.
Show me somebody who's already doing this so I know I'm allowed to do it.
But nobody else was doing this!
And for a months I thought that as a problem.
But now i realise…
Of course I couldn't see it. As i was building it, it was building me…
That's the exciting part… I’ve genuinely become a new woman over the last few months.
I'm stepping into a version of a business that feels increasingly like a personal brand and universe.
A place where I don't have to choose between the things that bring me joy.
A place where art can lead to healing.
Healing can lead to animals.
Animals can lead me back to myself.
And everything gets to hold hands with everything else.
Fredereka.com will continue to emerge.
But I finally understand that the fact I couldn't fit it neatly into a box wasn't evidence that I needed a smaller idea.
I just needed… a multiverse.
