Welcome to Atelier Grá…

“Grá” is the Irish word for love…

And creativity was my first love.

So when it came to naming the studio, Atelier Grá, fit perfectly.

As a child with a rich inner world making art was one of my ways to express things I didn't really know how to speak about. Making things, imagining things and connecting with the natural world through the plants and the trees and the animals were second nature to me, there was never any question of whether I could draw or not, of whether I was creative or not...

It would be my teens before I became self conscious and worried about being “good”.

Creative expression is as essential to me as breath. I've always loved helping other people discover their own creative abilities – especially the parts they might have forgotten, dismissed, or decided they weren't "good" at.

In recent years, art has woven itself more and more deeply into my work. I've been developing my own processes through automatic and channelled art-making, creating with less emphasis on controlling the outcome and more curiosity about what wants to emerge through me.

Atelier Grá is a home for that part of my world.
